Cross proposals described as draconian

The NSW government is “going too far” with its plans to clean up Kings Cross, an alliance of local businesses says.

The Kings Cross Liquor Accord says it supports measures to cut down on alcohol-fuelled violence in the notorious nightspot but calls some government proposals “draconian”.

Premier Barry O’Farrell on Tuesday announced a raft of new initiatives to crack down on drunken violence in the Cross following the fatal bashing of teenager Thomas Kelly in July.
