Push for Byron Bay club lockout
PARTYGOERS could be locked out of Byron Bay’s pubs and clubs by midnight if a push by police and Byron mayor Jan Barham is approved.
Tweed Police and Cr Barham continue to clash over ways to deal with Byron Bay’s escalating alcohol-related violence but are united on a lockout to curb late-night violence in the town’s main street.
Cr Barham wants patrons to be refused entry to the town’s late-night clubs from 1am while police want it to be midnight.
