Agreement on Liquor Controls

IN A bid to help police combat any alcohol-fuelled violence on the streets of Byron Bay during next weekend’s three-day Splendour in the Grass festival, some of Byron Bay’s late-night venues have agreed to an earlier, or staged lockout.

With about 17,500 expected to attend the festival at Belongil Fields each day and growing fears festivalgoers and revellers would flood the town after midnight, police had asked the town’s Liquor Accord for an earlier than 2am lockout.
