Liquor accord ‘working’

A group of licensees and managers in Longreach say the town’s liquor accord is making a difference.

Most licensed premises in the community have joined the initiative, which aims to address antisocial behaviour in pubs and clubs.

They are working with police and Queensland Health and will tonight run a program to raise awareness about responsible drinking.

Accord chairman Brad Betteins says people who behave badly can be banned for specified periods under the scheme.
