Kyneton liquor outlet bans patron

ONE Kyneton business has been forced to impose a ‘barring order’ on a patron since the new liquor industry regulation was introduced on August 1.

The ‘barring order’ can be used by liquor licensees and police to ban drunk, violent or quarrelsome patrons from entering or coming within 20 metres of a licensed premises.

Senior Sergeant Geoff Owen said the order was discussed during the recent Kyneton Liquor Accord meeting.

The meetings bring together liquor licensees from hotels, sporting clubs and sellers of packaged alcohol.

A guest speaker from Responsible Alcohol Victoria, Cherie Urquhart, spoke about law updates relating to the industry.
